Solo Duelists

The duelist is one of the four roles in Valorant and it serves a key role in a team's attack. A duelist's abilities are designed to help them get enter sites and create engagements with the enemy.

There are currently six agents classified as duelists: Phoenix, Jett, Reyna, Raze, Yoru, Neon.

Duelists are self-sufficient fraggers who their team expects, through abilities and skills, to get high frags and seek out engagements first.

Across 547 games played, the team has employed at least one duelist in 99.82% of their matches. A team composition with exactly one duelist has been utilized in 45.34% of all matches, while more than one duelist is used in 54.48% of the team's games.

Logically, one might expect that multi-duelist compositions might hurt the team's defense because duelists are typically offensive agents. However, some may expect a tradeoff with increased attack efficiency thanks to having more offense-oriented agents. At the time at which this text was written, the team is clearly more effective when employing a single duelist rather than multiple. The data suggests that in general, it is beneficial to have one person play the role of duelist and allocate the other four slots to other roles.

Note that the sample size isn't particularly large, so be careful not to conclude anything definitive if the evidence isn't strong enough..
